- See the Maiden Tower. It's a tower in the middle of the Bosphorus and it's georgeous. The legend is that a sultan had the tower built because there was a prophecy saying that his daughter would be killed by a snake before she turns 18. So the sultan moved his daughter in that tower, in the middle of the sea to prevent snakes from getting to her. On her 18th birthday he brought her a basket of fruits as a gift and in it was a snake that bit and killed her. And so she died a maiden. You can see the inside by taking a ferry from Uskudar, on the Asian side. I've never been inside, but i think just seeing it when you're on the ferry between Besiktas and Kadikoy would suffice.

- *** of Istiklal Street is the the "balikcilar pazari" -the fisherman's market,- which'll be on your right when you're walking from Taksim to the tunnel. In there, you'll see Sampiyon. Eat mussels, ask for fried mussles with a lot of garlic sauce in a sandwich. Or, eat lamb's intestines. it's pretty tasty. They make it very spicy though. This place is more famous for the intestines, but I like the mussels more.

- In the same area but a little further, is 'Nevizade' definitely definitely go here and drink Raki. It's sort of like the Greek drink Ouzo. If you want a fancy-ish dinner, eat fish here, alongside with Raki. (Nevizade isnt a restaurant, it's an area of restaurants and bars where people mostly eat fish and drink Raki) some restaurants have "fasil" it's live "oriental" music., a perfect accompaniment for drinking Raki, well..at least if you're Turkish. The Fasil musicians are always incredbly talented so if you come accross a restaurant with Fasil, pick that one.

- Somewhere in Kadikoy or Beyoglu, eat "cig kofte." It literally means raw meatballs: the tastiest things ever, and they can be very spicy. They don't always contain raw meat any more. There'll be signs outside of restaurants for cig kofte, so you can find it easily. So tasty, I'd want one now.

- In kadikoy, go to this restaurant called "Ciya" ask anyone and they'll direct you to it. Make sure you don't go to the Ciya kebab one though, just Ciya. They make amazing authentic Turkish food from all sorts of places in Turkey and it's all incredibly tasty. I'd say get "patlican dolma" which is stuffed fried eggplant and "burma kofte," i think it's called. They have options you can point to and choose from. This is one of my favourite restaurants.

- Good late night drunk food is 'islak burger,' meaning wet burger. It looks disgusting but tastes very good. You can get it at the beginning of the Istiklal street in restaurants on your left, when you're coming from Taksim.

* Have a walk in Cihangir - cozy place near Taxim - where you start from taxim and end in Sanatkarlar Parkı. Have a tea/coffee at the park where you will be able to see the whole view of historical peninsula (3500 year old history) & bosphorus together.
